! We have internet at home now. Which means I don't have to feel like a waste of resources for posting on lj on a high-demand public computer.

? Because all public computers in Chicago, even at school seem to be in high demand. Except at 9 am.

* And at 9 am I like to do math.

* math! I left my math Friday in a state of happiness, having finally 1. processed what an exact sequence is and 2. used that to solve a problem I'd been struggling with, in what feels like a totally illegitimate way.

. The way: paging through my new algebra book looking for a diagram of an exact sequence, hoping that next to the diagram it would say the fact about exact sequences that I needed to have be true (but did not know was true).

* There's this math class I'm sitting in on, and it reminds me of Commutative Algebra from Budapest, because it's way above my head and the prof is brilliant and doesn't really write on the board enough, even if I understood the topic. But because it reminds me of Budapest it's not that intimidating.

* I had Halloween oreos yesterday.

~ Doing all this math makes me miss Oregon and how friendly people were. And how they didn't all graduate from, like, Cambridge or MIT or something.

~ Also I want my classes to involve Real Robots like Kathleen's. But No. One of them involves Real Business Majors, which is almost as exotic, but kind of less cool.

^^ That class also involved a lot of dire predictions about People Not Having The Prerequisites For The Class, which I assume were aimed at the business majors, but I kind of think I don't have them either. But probably I have the requisite Mathematical Maturity at least. Also, I think if I dropped that class I would fail out of the program next February guaranteed.

!! Last weekend I went to a Contact Jam and it was wonderful... hopefully it is usually good, and that was not a freak occurrence. It seemed like there were a lot of people. But I guess Chicago is big.

... I should find contra or folk dancing I can do, too, though.

? Another math student mentioned that her church at one point was looking for a folk dance teacher.

! A friend came to dinner last night.

* I have a bus and train pass now. This makes me feel a lot freer to go places.

() Which makes my cat sad. Sad little cat.

# I applied for a credit card just now. Apparently real adults have credit cards.
