In sad computer news, the screen on my laptop seems to be dead-dead. Hopefully that will be remotely affordable to fix-- it is long out of Applecare coverage, and also out of its warranty for having had other stuff recently fixed. But
hazelsteapot took it in to get the useful files (that were not already backed-up) off with the help of the monitors and cords at the Apple store today, which is convenient for me (since it takes about an hour to get there). Ze has some more-time-sensitive stuff on there than I do, so this was not complete altruism. But I am still happy about it.
In happy computer news, I finally got the nerve up to install LaTeX on my desktop (which has historically been a difficult process for me involving much asking for help from people who know how computers work). Only to find, this time, a way of installing it that involved no knowledge at all of how computers work. One of those nice things where you just click "okay" and follow instructions that pop up. Yay! And it works! And I don't have to go looking in the terminal for folders I cannot normally see! Or try to remember how to do anything from CS 117!
