I went to see "Good Night and Good Luck" with my grandparents yesterday evening. It was a nice movie. I found it a little odd that it was in black and white, and I wonder what it would have looked like in color. I assume it was in black and white so that we wouldn't be able to tell what was original footage and what was archival, since most of the movie was about a television show in the fifties, but it was a bit strange. Good movie, though.
The weirdest bit was the number of times my grandmother felt the need to say there was going to be "no sex, no nudity, and no dirty words". It was confusing and for some reason a bit upsetting. I don't really care much one way or the other about those things, if they're done well-- and if they aren't, it's unlikely that the rest of the movie is. It reminded me about my family having a hard time with me growing up, especially because I'm the oldest. And it was hard not to laugh when she said that reassuringly to my mother, who tried to watch Kinsey with me (but then some friend called and I left.)
